Switzerland is the first country to give animals social rights that must be honored while keeping them. If you value animal rights, you’ll love this – since 2008, it’s illegal to own solitary social animals like guinea pigs and goldfish. And keeping them alone makes them feel isolated and lonely.
This is so cool- a solution to keep a guinea pig with a companion- Owners are even allowed to rent a guinea pig till their pet is alive to not get trapped in a never-ending cycle of guinea pig purchasing.
Similarly, birds such as parrots, parakeets, Japanese quails, cockatoos, macaws, canaries, and lovebirds need to have at least one companion, or we should make them interact with other birds so that they don’t feel lonely.
LESSON LEARNT- Keeping a pet is lovely and kind, but if you have them please remember to take care of not only their physical needs but social needs as well. These creatures are like us they did the same kind of interaction as we need. Truly value that.
